Once you've prepared your agenda, it's time to get talking. But wait, don't just launch into work. Spend a few minutes relating. While it might sound far out.

We actually catch energy through our interactions with people. This is called relational energy. It's been well studied that how we show up relationally makes a big difference in how others around us not only feel but how they perform. Researchers have found that teams who have more positive energizers experience higher performance ratings, customer feedback, and project outcomes.

Relating is all about presence and connection. When it comes to presence, this means bringing your full attention to the moment. If you're coming off another meeting or need a couple of minutes to finish something so that you can be fully present, then ask for that time. The other person will feel it if you're preoccupied or multitasking.

Positive connection is actually a tool to lower the inhibitions that prevent us from collaborating with clear and aligned intentions.
