Managers often think that once they've described a role, they don't need to do it again. Information needs to be repeated over and over. It needs to be documented clearly, and it needs to be in a place where people can come back to it when they get confused, when they have a question, when they're not sure how their role overlaps with somebody else's role on their team. If you don't know who will do what by when, chances are your team is not going to be functioning effectively and efficiently in the work that they're doing.

And oftentimes they're going to be confused and possibly even resentful that they're doing work that doesn't matter. Now it's time to take action. Complete the job description and job responsibilities sections of an RPA for each of your direct reports. Then review these items in your one on ones to ensure accuracy.
