A foundational element in establishing role clarity on your team is starting with a clear and well constructed RPA or role in performance agreement. Step one Define the mission of the role. This is the executive summary of the roles, core purpose and function. Step two Define the responsibilities List what the person in this role will be doing by explaining what is within their scope of work.

Step three Define the outcomes of the role. Develop 3 to 5 specific objective outcomes that a person must accomplish to achieve great performance. And step four Define the competencies of the role. Identify as many role based and leadership competencies as appropriate to describe the behavior someone must demonstrate in the role.
