Hi, my name is Adam Bouse and I am a manager of performance coaching here at 15Five. I love the work I do, but I could have never guessed this is where I would be at this point in my career. A few years after graduating from college, I had been working for a local nonprofit museum. I had come to a point where I felt like I needed to stretch my limbs, but I wasn't quite sure how to do it.

It wasn't until I sat down with someone who was higher in the organization a little bit further down in their career, and I had an honest conversation about what was most important to me, what I saw as my strengths and where I wanted to see myself grow. That conversation in and of itself unlocked entirely new opportunities for me, and I saw myself as someone who could grow and develop in a really intentional and strategic way. I couldn't have guessed that I would end up becoming a coach one day, but here I am and I trace it all back to having that one intentional conversation about my career growth and my development opportunities and career growth is a hot topic in the workplace because most people I've worked with have a desire, they have a need, they want to be progressing and they want to be going somewhere beyond just what they're doing in their day to day.

60% of employees say that career growth is one of the most important factors for staying in a company. And at the same time, half of employees said they're organizations don't provide clear advancement tracks and they have yet to have at least one conversation about their career vision. Now, as a manager, you have the opportunity to change the game, and when you do this, you'll create individuals and teams that are committed, that are putting forth extra effort, and they work harder for the goals that are most important to the overall business. Our own research here 15 times found that 67% of employees report working harder when they feel like their manager cares about their growth.

Today, we are going to explore how to have powerful career and growth development conversations with your team.
